  • HOW TO MAKE AN ALL NATURAL GALAXY DONUT ?

Donut's - who can resist a Doughnut? Recipe contributed by a friend, an architect who is passionate about baking. Donut vs Doughnut : The Battle Continues...... The Official Dictionary Spelling of the word in question—if you're into that sort of thing—is “doughnut.” The expedited, simplified Americanized spelling is of course “donut,” as Grammarist tell us it has been around since at least the late 19th century but it didn't catch on though until late in the 20th century. Today, writers outside the U.S. still favour doughnut by a wide margin. Donut appears about a third of the time in published American writing. Donut is a simpler spelling, so it may grow even more common now that it has a foothold. Whatever your take is on the spelling here is the recipe for this gorgeous all natural plant based Galaxy Donut. Make, Bake and Enjoy! INGREDIENTS : Makes 6 - 1 Cup Gluten Free Flour (I used woollies Free From Gluten flour) 2 Tablespoon Sweet potato flour 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder ¼ Cup Maple syrup ¼ Teaspoon Salt ½ Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk + ½ Teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar (allow to sit for a few minutes to form a "buttermilk") 3 Tablespoons Rice bran oil 2 Teaspoon of Orgran** egg replacer + 2 Tablespoon Water or 1 Egg Gorgeous colourful Galaxy Donut GLAZE : 1 Cups Organic Powdered Sugar 2 Tablespoons Unsweetened Almond Milk 1 Tablespoon of MY BLUE TEA - Purple Sweet Potato Powder 1/4 teaspoon of MY BLUE TEA - Butterfly Pea Powder + A few drops clear alcohol of your choice (to make blue food colouring without the grain of the powder) GALAXY DONUTS : INGREDIENTS: 400ml coconut cream ⅓ cup shredded coconut 5-6 TBSP sugar or honey 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional) Natural food colouring – 1/4 teaspoon - MY BLUE TEA - Blue Butterfly Pea Powder and 1/4 teaspoon - MY BLUE TEA - Roselle Powder BUY BLUE BUTTERFLY POWDER NOW POWDER NOW Galaxy Donut INSTRUCTIONS : (1) Preheat oven to 180C and prepare a doughnut pan with non-stick baking spray. Set aside. (2) In a medium bowl, combine flour, sweet potato powder, baking powder and salt. Stir until well combined. (3) In a small bowl, whisk together the almond milk and apple cider vinegar mixture and the egg replacer/ egg until well combined. Slowly pour in rice bran oil and whisk until the mixture is smoothed. (4) Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until a smooth batter forms. (5) Carefully spoon the batter into the doughnut pan. There should be enough batter for six doughnuts. (6) Bake at 180C for 15 minutes or until golden brown and an inserted toothpick comes out clean. (7) Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling. (8) While the doughnuts are cooling, whisk together the powdered sugar, almond milk and purple sweet potato powder to make the glaze. It will take a bit of mixing to dissolve the powdered sugar. (9) Keep mixing until a drippy glaze forms. Gently stir in blue powder into alcohol (I used gin) until desired shade of blue is reached. Strain any remaining lumps to prevent graininess. (10) Carefully dip each doughnut into the glaze and return to the rack/ baking paper. Sprinkle food safe glitter if desired. ABOUT SPOOKESNBUBBLES : Stephanie is an EA by day, baker by night and the occasional dog sitter. When she is not at work or at the gym, she can be found in the comfort of her own kitchen. She is either cooking or baking away, oldie but goodie recipes or trying out new recipes where she always has a tendency to stray from the recipe and prefers to go by feel. Born and raised in KL, Stephanie is no stranger to being surrounded by delicious food that can be found on street corners or cooked at home by her grandma. Growing up, she was never really taught how to cook but she was always good at eating. When she migrated to Melbourne with her mum and sister, she learnt how to cook by observing her mum in the kitchen. When you are far from home, it’s a no brainer that you have to learn to make dishes that remind you of your Malaysian childhood or else, travelling to and from KL is going to burn serious holes in your pocket. Cooking came naturally to her, but baking was a different story. Seven years ago, she said to a good friend, “I’m really bad at baking” and fast forward to now, she’s in a completely different chapter. Stephanie is a self-taught baker, she started out by baking cupcakes and a good mentor of hers told her, “this taste better than the store-bought ones you usually buy for us”. That’s where her baking escapade started, she started baking cupcakes and she put a twist on the usual cupcake flavours with flavours that reminded her of home. Two of those flavours include Pandan Kaya Cupcakes and Durian Cupcakes. She decided to start her own cupcake business, CUP that CAKE. She loves her day job and bakes for her business on the side as a hobby, trying to create any Asian flavours that comes to mind. Nothing makes her happier than seeing her nearest and dearest enjoy the food that she puts on the table for them. • The Power of Plants

Mum said eat your Greens! Have you ever been told to have a drink of green tea at the early signs of a cold or flu? Or to rub aloe vera gel on a burn to heal it faster? These popular recommendations go much deeper than simple tradition. What is it that gives these plants the power to heal? Modern scientific research has come a long way with uncovering how and why these simple recommendations work. When we combine this research with traditional insights, it becomes clear that plants have something real to offer. What is the Power of Plants? The power of plants is certainly an interesting topic and is something we as humans have acknowledged from the very beginning. Early shamanistic healing practices explained a plant's power as a spirit living within the plant itself. Chinese and Ayurvedic herbal medicines suggest that the power of plants come from their innate qualities like hot or cold, wet or dry. They use these qualities to balance the body's systems. Homeopathy describes the “vital force” of plants and use this to promote healing. Whether for healing or food, plants have always played a central role in human development no matter how we describe where this power comes from. In today's technology and science-driven world, scientists are looking deeper than we ever have before to discover the true power of plants. As new techniques are developed, we are painting an ever clearer picture of the composition and characteristics of plants. Many modern practitioners recognise the power of a plant as what is contained in its chemical makeup. Durian, the King of Fruits - these fruit has a lot of health benefits which many took for granted. Durian Powder will be available on our website mid-August 2018 Food Aside from a few strains of bacteria, plants are the only organisms on earth that have the ability to take the sun's energy, convert it into a molecule, and store it in a usable form. This process is called photosynthesis and is one of the most important chemical processes taking place on the entire planet. Using this stored energy, plants build their structures using the essential chemicals of life. They take carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium, and numerous other minerals to create its structures. When we eat plants, we are in effect consuming all of these minerals, elements, and stored energy in a useable form. In this way, the power of plants as food comes down to its chemistry as well. Whether sugar, protein, or fat, the source of energy is a molecule designed and built by the plant itself. Purple Sweet Potato Intense Powder will be available mid-August 2018 - remember to visit our website MY BLUE TEA or follow us on Instagram @my.blue.tea for latest updates and inspiration. Medicine Plants have been used as medicine since the early stages of human development. Generally, when a plant is used for its medicinal components it is termed a “herb”. They are like little chemical factories. They take in the raw materials; light, water, minerals, and CO2, and convert them into an array of different chemicals. Some of these chemicals are key principles for nutrition like the energy-storing sugars and fats, the all important amino acids, as well as a nearly unlimited array of other chemicals that can exert either a medicinal, neutral, or toxic effect on the body. Clitoria Ternatea or Butterfly Pea flower has loads of health benefits but it was used by the Straits Chinese in Melaka since the 14th century as food colourant. High in anti-oxidants and anthocyanins - the natural blue hue from the flower itself. The Power of Plants is Contained Within its Phytochemicals A chemical manufactured by a plant is known as a phytochemical. This stems from the latin word phyto, which means plant. Many modern herbalists and natural practitioners consider the “power” of a plant to be contained in its phytochemical makeup. In modern times, there is a lot of research looking into the mechanisms behind the various phytochemicals present in nature. Researchers are interested in understanding what it is that makes a plant medicinal or nutritious, and how we can use it more effectively to promote healing and overall wellbeing. As these chemicals become better understood, we are beginning to learn why many of the traditional recommendations for these plants actually work, and how we can make them work even better. Moringa - called the Miracle Tree - now available in our Miracle Blue Tea! Yum to good health BUY SUPERFOOD SUPER POWDER NOW You probably know some of these phytochemicals One of the most well-known classes of phytochemicals are the alkaloids. These can be further classified into all kinds of more chemically specific and equally complex sounding chemical groups. A good example of this is a class of alkaloids known as the xanthine alkaloids such as caffeine and theobromine. These alkaloids are found in many species of plants spread the world over, but the most famous examples are tea (Camellia sinensis) and coffee (Coffea arabica). The phytochemical, caffeine, works mainly by causing a stimulating effect on the central nervous system, which is what gives you that sensation of focus and alertness. On the opposite spectrum, the well known alkaloid morphine, which you may know as the powerful painkiller often given after surgery in hospitals, is actually extracted from plants. A morphine molecule works by physically blocking your body's pain receptors so that it cannot deliver the message of “pain” to the brain. Thus the sensation of pain disappears! Alkaloids are just one class of powerful phytochemicals found in the plant world, other famous examples are the free-radical scavenging “polyphenols”, the aromatic “terpenes”, and the blood cleansing “saponins”. Don't like your greens? Have Purple Sweet Potato Latte instead. And do you know that Purple Sweet Potato is the only food certified as the "Superfood" ? Antioxidants We need oxygen to survive. It plays a crucial role in our mitochondria's ability to turn sugar and fat into the energy we use to run, talk, chew, digest, and any other activity we do throughout the day. The problem is that oxygen has a destructive influence on our cells as a side effect. Have you ever heard of the term free radicals? Well, oxygen is the king of free radicals. It is not the strongest, but it is by far the most common. Think of oxygen as greedy, it’s always looking for new additions to its structure which we call electrons. If it cannot find another atom that offers the exact amount of electrons it needs, it will steal them from the atoms making up different parts of your cells. If this happens too often, it will cause the cell to fall apart and die. When you consider the amount of oxygen we breath in and out each day for the duration of our lifetime, this can have a profound effect on the cells within the body. The answer to this problem is antioxidants. Our bodies produce a few of these chemicals on our own, but it is not enough to keep tabs on the huge amounts of oxygen floating around in our cells. Plants produce a lot of antioxidant chemicals that can be delivered to the cells directly from the digestive system. These chemicals work by finding oxygen and other electron stealing free radicals and gives them exactly what they need from its own chemical structure. In effect, they neutralise all the nasty cell destroying free radicals by satisfying their greed for subatomic particles. This prevents them from stealing pieces from our cells instead. It is easy to consume antioxidants from plants, as they are chalked full of them. Plants have become exceptionally good at releasing antioxidants into its own tissues to prevent this sort of damage from occurring to itself. BUY BLUE HERBAL TEA OR THE MIRACLE BLUE TEA Roselle Ice Tea with lime & mint - packed with Vitamins A, B & C. Adaptogens Without a doubt, one of the most interesting classes of plants, and the best examples of the incredible power plants contain within their roots, leaves, and seeds are the adaptogens. This class of herb is defined as producing a general balancing and health promoting action on the body. They are especially interesting because they do not have just one mechanism of action. Instead, they tend to work in a broader sense for a much larger variety of diseases and disorders. Have you ever seen those infographics on Pinterest, or those herbal product ads suggesting the benefits of a certain plant where the list seems to go on forever? How can one plant offer so many benefits, especially when many of these benefits seem totally unrelated? The answer is that the herb is most likely an adaptogen. They really do offer such a broad level of support to the body that they have been found useful for a long list of different conditions. Some work by influencing areas of the brain that control homeostasis, some are powerful antioxidants, and others replenish the body's neurotransmitters and messenger molecules so that it can better communicate within itself to oversee and manage healing and repair. The power of plants runs deep, but our understanding of this power still has a long way to go. Modern analytical techniques, combined with traditional insights have helped us theorize and test where this power truly comes from and how we can best put it to use. Safflower Powder - available in July 2018 - a great natural colour for you cooking/baking or as Safflower Tea. How to Make Easy Blue Pea Flower Ice Cream using Blue Butterfly Pea Powder? by Jackie M Tang, "I got into this “food thing” because of my determination to recreate the food of my Malaysian childhood, so it’s always a bit frustrating when my efforts are hampered by the non-availability of critical ingredients in Australia. For 20 years, one such ingredient was something called bunga telang, aka blue pea or blue butterfly flower, which gives a beautiful blue hue to select Malaysian and Southeast Asian dishes. Now that natural blue pea flower extract is available in powder form courtesy of My Blue Tea, I’m experimenting (in collaboration with the company) with different ways to use them, not just within the realm of traditional Asian cooking but also in everyday recipes. This is one such example; a simple 3-ingredient ice cream that doesn’t require an ice cream machine." BUTTERFLY PEA FLOWER ICE CREAM OR BLUE PEA FLOWER ICE CREAM - (both names are inter-changeable) INGREDIENTS: * 600ml thickened cream * 1 can condensed milk (397g) * 2 tsps MY BLUE TEA - Blue Butterfly Powder BUY BLUE BUTTERFLY PEA POWDER NOW METHOD : * Whip cream until thickened. * Add condensed milk and blue pea powder and continue to mix until combined. * Transfer into a container and freeze until solid. * Serve on its own or with fruit or other toppings. How to make Jalapeno Kaffir Lime Corn Bread? "I just recently received the kaffir lime leaf powder, and I've fallen in love with it!" "Good" corn bread is a matter of personal taste. Some like it sweet, some like it dense, others like it with a lighter texture (cake like) and there are many other preferences, including those that use canned, fresh or frozen corn. ... I strongly prefer a infusion style corn bread with some Asian flavours and of course, corn. BUY BLUE HERBAL TEA Blue Herbal Tea - our best seller (Photography by Ian Neo Photography) You might like to enjoy this Jalapeno Kaffir Lime Corn Bread with a pot of Blue Herbal Tea or Blue Latte or make a cup of Blue Milk for the children. The Blue Butterfly Powder is very versatile, taste earthy or neutral - something for you to challenge your creative self. There's a "Green & Yellow" colour in there somewhere in this. Test it in your home lab! Go create some beautiful colours. Recipe Notes : Use your judgment on the quantity of jalapeno peppers. If you're looking for corn bread with quite a bit of kick, opt for two. If you'd like a more subtle balance between the heat and the lime flavour, just use one. We used an 8" square Pyrex glass baking dish to bake the corn bread, so this is a viable option if you don't have a cast iron skillet. Kaffir Lime Leaves wonderful herb and easy to use and store in this Powder form.
